Episode 12 :: Question 2 on Proving One’s Christianity

Question 2 – Matthew (Nigeria): How do I prove to people that I am a real Christian?

Answer 2: Well, it’s not really a “proving to people that you are a Christian;” you’re not really living for them. But, there’s a life you live that’ll let others know that you are a Christian. Simply, from the words of Jesus, we can get a beautiful answer. The words of Jesus [in Matthew 5:16] say “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” If you let your light shine, that will be it. Your light is the word of God in you, because God’s word is light. God’s word is the light of God. And that word is in your spirit and as you live according to God’s word, your light will shine forth. Jesus said “you are the light of the world.”

If you let your light shine, like Jesus said, “so shine before men,that they may see your good works,” the Bible says they will glorify the father who is in heaven. So that’s all you’ve got to do. Don’t try to live under the shadow of trying to please anybody. Please God; live according to God’s word and your light will shine and others will see it.
