Bowing Down in Worship – Is it for the Church today?

In the Old Testament, people often bowed in worship to God. There are several instances in the Bible where men of old, bowed in reverence when they met with an angel or when they were in the presence of God.

The three wise men, when they saw the Messiah, bowed down and worshiped Him. Also in Psalm 95:6, David prayed thus: “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker”.

But many Churches today don’t practice this as a standard way of worship, like they do lifting up of hands to God? So, is this an Old Testament mode of worship, or should it be practiced today?

Kindly share your word based thoughts on this interesting subject.

God bless you!

Be a part of Quick Vote this Week!

Hello. It’s time for Quick Vote once again; another opportunity to choose from given options, a topic you would like Pastor Chris to address during the next webcast.

The interesting options for this week are:

1.      Should a Christian borrow money? - The Bible says those who belong to God would lend to many and borrow from none. Does this mean that it is wrong for a Christian to borrow money?

2.      Can one who does miracles in the Name of Jesus be unknown to God? – Jesus said on the last day many will cry out saying Lord we did miracles in your Name, but the Lord would say, get away from me, I knew you not. Is it possible to perform miracles and still be unknown by God, and ultimately end up going to hell?

3.      The use of candles in prayers – Candles are used in various types of worship and prayer times by some Christians on the belief that candles are useful in blessings, in the absolution of sins or the exorcism demons.  Is there really any Biblical connection between candles and prayers?

4.      The ordinance of feet washing – Is the ordinance of washing the disciples’ feet by Jesus Christ in John 13:5-16 still applicable in this present day as practiced by some, or was there a particular lesson being demonstrated by the Lord Jesus with this act?
